BINTULU: The Santri D’wangsa Putra from Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) made history by being crowned the runner-up for the Platinum Award at the 8th Edition of the 2023 Borneo Dance Festival, held from November 7-10 at the National Department of Arts and Culture Auditorium, Sabah.
With this victory, UPMKB successfully brought home a cash prize of RM3,000.00 along with a trophy and certificate.
Additionally, the university’s choreographer, Hairi Hedeir, won second place for the Best Choreographer Award, bringing home a cash prize of RM400, a trophy, and a certificate.
UPMKB also secured third place for the Best Music Arrangement Award, taking home a cash prize of RM400, a trophy, and a certificate.
The prizes were received by the principal of Sri Rajang College UPMKB, Dr. Kamil Latif.
A total of ten higher education institutions from Brunei and Indonesia competed in this festival.
Meanwhile, the defending champion, Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak, Indonesia, was once again crowned the champion, while the third place in the same category was won by Universitas Palangka Raya Kalimantan Tengah, Indonesia.
