KUCHING: The world of fashion witnessed a historic moment when two young stars from Sarawak, Avery Jong Xin En and Sarafina Arisya Jihel, returned home victorious after winning multiple titles at the Global Supermodel Search 2024 in Kuala Lumpur.
Avery, only 6 years old, stole the spotlight by being crowned the Overall Winner of the Junior Global Supermodel Search 2024.
In addition, Avery also bagged five other awards, including Winner of the Mini Global Supermodel Search 2024, Best Mini Model of the Year, Fashion Icon, and Best High Fashion Outfit, despite only being in the fashion industry for a year.
“I’m grateful to Kakak Vi (Viviana Lin Winston) and Mummy (Angela Martin) for always supporting me,” she said proudly. Although she is very young, Avery’s impact is already felt on the world stage.
Meanwhile, Sarafina, 15, also brought home the title of Petite Global Supermodel Search 2024 and was the runner-up of the Teen Global Supermodel Search 2024.
Reflecting on her journey, Sarafina, who started her modelling career at 6, acknowledged that family and coach support were the keys to her success.
“Their support took me from nothing to the top,” she said, emphasizing that education remains a priority alongside her modelling career.
The success of Avery and Sarafina marks a historic moment, elevating the name of Sarawak in the international fashion arena.
The warm welcome from family and friends upon their return is proof of how proud the state is of the achievements of its two young stars.
