KUCHING: A four-year-old boy has been missing since Monday (March 7), and his mother is pleading with the public to help to locate him.

Eric Chang, or nickname ‘Duck Duck’ was reported missing from a house at Lorong 2, Taman Riverview and a police report was lodged on the same day.

His mother Dynasty Chang, 25, had sent her son – Eric Chang to a friend’s house at Taman Riverview on Feb 21 as she had to undergo a medical procedure.

Chang said however, she was shocked to be informed that her son had gone missing at 9am on Monday.

“I received a call from my friend around 9am (that my son had gone missing) and we went on to search around the areas but to no avail.

Hence, I have lodged a police report,” she told the reporters at a press conference held at Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pending branch office today.

“I am worried and I hope to see my son soon,” she said and broke into tears.

Meanwhile, SUPP Youth secretary-general Milton Foo said the boy has gone missing for two days, therefore, he hoped the public would help the authorities to search for the child, especially those in Bintawa residential and industrial areas.

“He is four-year-and-nine-month old and was last seen wearing a dark blue t-shirt with black short pants, about 100cm tall,” he said.

Foo said the child’s mother had to undergo a medical procedure while the father was still recovering from an accident, hence, he was unfit to take care of the child. Thus, the family had decided to send the child to the friend’s house last month.

He urged the public not to speculate on the incident and allow the police to conduct investigation thoroughly.

“It is unfortunate that this happened (child went missing) but we do not want to speculate anything. We want to focus on searching for the young boy as he has gone missing for more than 48 hours,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah has confirmed the case, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001 against the mother’s friend.
