KUCHING: The State Health Department is hoping the Hospital Mesra Ibadah (HMI) programme will be expanded to all 23 hospitals in Sarawak, said its Deputy Director Dr Azlee Ayub.

According to him the HMI programme has thus far only been implemented in seven hospitals in the state.

“The Ministry of Health (MOH) established the HMI programme in 2014.

“At the state level, this programme has been expanded to government hospitals that have the cadre position of Assistant Religious Officer.

“The seven hospitals with cadre positions, for now, are the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Sarawak Heart Centre and hospitals in Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri respectively.”

Dr Azlee, who represented Director Dr Ooi Choon Huck, said this at the closing of Daurah Fiqhiyyah: Panduan Solat Pesakit Sarawak which was officiated by State Mufti Datuk Kipili Yassin at Sarawak General Hospital yesterday.

At the ceremony, Kipli also presented a patient prayer guide book kit to SGH representatives.
