KUCHING: The younger generation and youth organisations have been encouraged to organise blood donation drives to give back to society.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said this at a blood donation drive organised by HERO, a financial planning management services group agency, with Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank at CityONE here last Saturday.

“Although Kuching is facing another wave of Covid-19 and has been classified as a red zone, the turnout today has been very encouraging and we are grateful.

“I’ve started participating in blood donation drives 25 years ago and we should feel blessed that we are able to donate blood as not everyone is eligible to do so.

“A single donation can help many in need and this shows that Sarawakians are very helpful and kind. We should donate blood when we are able to,” he said.

Lo also gave assurance that strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place when donating blood.
