KUCHING: Four residents comprising two adults and two senior citizens are now living in a comfortable home after their house was repaired under the Sarawak Poor Housing Improvement Project (PPRMS).
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang has allocated a total of RM15,000 to repair the house located at Batu 9, Jalan Kuching-Serian.
When met by reporters, he said the Kota Padawan Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) found the house in a dilapidated condition when they delivered food aid during the movement control order (MCO) last year.
Apart from the allocation from PPRMS of Batu Kitang state constituency, Lo said the Kota Padawan JKKK and some kind individuals also contributed funds and bought building materials to repair the house.
“After the MCO, they planned and raised funds as well as getting their community to be equally involved voluntarily.
“They managed to gather a group of volunteers to work together to repair this house,” he said after handing over the keys to the house owner Ng Ah Fook, here today.
At the same time, he encouraged the public to volunteer to help repair the homes of the less fortunate.
Lo, who is also Padawan Municipal Council chairman, said these efforts and benefits are not only carried out in the Kota Padawan area but also in other areas.
“I want to encourage people to get involved in volunteering activities because this is something that means a lot to me.
“I would like to thank Kapitan Chin Hon Jun and his team as well as other philanthropists for their efforts in repairing this house,” he said.
