KUCHING: There is a saying to not forget one’s roots and Jessie Chung has certainly carried it deep within her heart.

To celebrate the platinum certification of her album ‘Be Strong’, a celebratory dinner was held at Crown Square here on Wednesday night.

She first began to thank her parents for bringing her into this world; it was also her mother who instilled a love for music in her.

“I have started to love music from a young age thanks to my mother who loves to sing; I remember from a young age that she loves to sing.

“I’m not forgetting my father as well, who has always advised me to be a good doctor,” she said.

Chung also thanked the community in Kuching who has supported her from the very beginning and have helped her grow into the person she is today.

“Since young, they have taught me how to be a better person and have encouraged me to be where I am today.

“I also want to thank the reporters from Kuching who have always given their full support.

“They are the best and they give the best coverage; I hope they will continue to give their support,” she said.

At the same time, she expressed her happiness to be back in Kuching.

“I am happy to be back in Kuching as in this whole world, Kuching is the most beautiful and peaceful place to live in.

“I hope everyone can appreciate what they have now,” she said, at the same time also thanking her team in Australia for helping her with music career.
