Flora came to the city for a better life, but her life was cut short.

KUCHING: A father’s hope for his youngest daughter to have a better life is dashed as he came yesterday morning to bring her home to Baram for her burial.

Flora Nugak, aged 19, from Rumah Nawek Long Tuyut Tinjar, Baram was found dead in an entertainment joint in Ban Hock Road here on Wednesday
afternoon.

She was pursuing her diploma in healthcare at a private college in the city.

According to her aggrieved father who was reluctant to talk to the press, he did not know what happened to her. He heard that she went out with three other female friends and two male friends the night before she was found dead.

He said he also had no knowledge of his daughter’s social life in Kuching except that she was in college.

Unconfirmed sources told New Sarawak Tribune that the post-mortem showed some foul play concerning her cause of death.

When contacted, Sarawak CID head SAC Denis Leong said a forensic specialist will conduct another post-mortem on the deceased on Monday.

He said police would conduct an investigation into the case. It was not explained why Flora’s death was only realised the
following day.

It was alleged that some entertainment joints extend their operating hours until the wee hours of the next day.

In Sibu, a pub which extended its opening hours until noon the next day was ordered closed by the authorities last year.
