KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) hopes Budget 2020 that will be tabled next month would allocate sufficient fund for the implementation of National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2019.

Chief executive officer Datuk Madani Sahari said the first phase of NAP 2019 that would kick off next year until 2023-2024 is a continuity of NAP 2014 emphasising on policies improvement in terms of new technology and human capital.

“We have submitted (allocation request), and we hope we can implement the first phase of NAP 2019 with sufficient fund,” he told Bernama recently.

He said NAP 2019 that would run until 2030 would also incorporate other elements in an effort to make Malaysia a manufacturer of hybrid and energy-efficient vehicles.

NAP 2019 will also see the adoption of the latest technology, such as 5G and the use of artificial intelligence in vehicles and next-generation vehicle (NxGV).

At the same time, he said industry players needed to meet the target set by the government to ensure the continuity of incentives.
