KUCHING: Dalat is expecting to build a new fire and rescue (Bomba) station, said Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

She said the fire and rescue services in Sarawak should be expanded in the rural areas.

“With the vast geographic land and scattered population all over the place, it is difficult for Bomba to respond on each fire incident. It could be long due to the vast size of our state,” she said in her speech at Sarawak Bomba Monthly Assembly ceremony held at Bomba headquarters here in Jalan Setia Raja today.

Fatimah also added that the proposal to build fire station in Dalat had been submitted to federal government.

“We hope it will be approved soon so that the construction of the station can begin as soon as possible. Insya Allah, Dalat will have its own Bomba station starting from 2021 or 2022,” she said.
