KUCHING: Hope Place has helped a single mother to get her feet on the ground, supporting her and the family with welfare assistances.

The 26-year-old mother, who wishes to be known as Petrsa, is living with her three young children, aged one month to six years old in a small room at Batu Kawa.

She previously worked in a coffee shop to make ends meet however had to quit her job temporarily to care for her children.

“After giving birth last month, Petrsa stopped working temporarily and as her youngest just turned one-month-old and her second child is only one-and-a-half years old.

“Her oldest child used to attend kindergarten last year but after moving closer to her parents, the six-year-old has stopped school,” Hope Place said in a press release.

At the moment Petrsa is totally dependent on her parents and her siblings with her mom helping to care for her babies and her older brothers are helping her financially.

“Petrsa’s father works as an apartment maintenance worker, while her brothers work as lorry drivers and factory workers.

“Although grateful for her family’s support and love, she also wishes to find a job soon, once her youngest baby is few months older,” they said.

Hope Place is now supporting the family with baby formula and regular food aid.

“We will also be supporting Petrsa’s oldest child in terms of school fees and school supplies for this coming school term,” the NGO added.
