ASAJAYA: Hope Place Kuching delivered food items and other essential items to a disabled man at Kampung Sambir here after receiving a request from Azzizie Mohd Jeman, a social worker from Sentosa Hospital recently.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) handed over food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuit, noodle, Milo, a wheelchair and portable toilet to Tapa Yok, 75.

Tapa is being cared for by his wife Bau Paieage, 61. She has to work round-the-clock, taking care of Tapa and their 27-year-old son, Mohd Nizam, who is suffering from TB disease, asthma and skin problems.

“Tapa’s only ‘income’ is from the state Welfare Department, amounting to RM300 monthly. Mohd Nizam who works at a farm earns RM250 monthly,” said Hope Place Founder, Kelvin Wan.

Hope Place is an NGO that visits the poor and less-fortunate families registered under its recipients’ list. It contributes to them essential food items once every two months. Currently, more than 170 families are under its list of recipients.
