KUCHING: Hope Place recently came to the aid of a widow and her three children aged five, 10 and 14.

Nasariah Bohari, 47, became a widow after her husband passed away in June.

“My husband used to be a chef at a hotel. He suffered from diabetes for a long time, and even had his leg amputated before he passed away,” a somber Nasariah said.

She added that after her husband’s passing due to heart failure, she and her children were left in a lurch.

“Although I’m grateful to my two adopted older children, who have assisted me in paying my rent and contributing RM100 on a regular basis, I still struggle, especially in terms of daily expenses and feeding my other children.”

She disclosed that she had applied for Social Welfare Department and Baitulmal aid but due to the movement control order and the ongoing pandemic, she would need to wait longer for approval.

Nasariah was thankful that Hope Place provided her and her children with food assistance.
