KUCHING: A family in Kampung Haji Baki here called for urgent assistance from Hope Place Kuching for much-needed milk powder supplements.
Mohd Zairol Mu, 20, had contracted Leptospirosis, a type of bacterial disease. When Hope Place interviewed the family, they said that Zairol used to have a promising career as a cook but had caught the disease by accident.
They said that Zairol’s condition was serious earlier this year and was admitted to hospital for a month in March. Now, he is in recovery at home, living with his parents and four siblings.
Zairol currently is still very weak, lost a lot of weight and is unable to speak properly.
Hope Place is supplying Zairol with nutritional milk powder supplements and he is currently on tube feeding and consumes the milk supplements six times a day.
In a week, he needs three to four cans of milk powder supplements to survive, as he still cannot eat soluble food.
Zairol’s father is a paid construction worker and could not afford to buy the expensive milk supplements for his son and needs to feed six people in the family.
They are trying their best to cope with increasing expenses, even living without electricity at their home.
