KUCHING: Once again Hope Place Kuching, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has come to the aid of a family in need.

This time it visited a single mother with five children recently.

Melati Chandan, 37, is left on her to take care of the young children following the death of her husband last Christmas.

Hope Place said in a press statement today (Feb 13) that Malati and her family lived in Johor for quite a while but after her husband died due to lung problems, she returned to Kuching but soon the family found themselves with no home or money.

Her children, aged between four and 18 years, are still dependent on her, although her eldest daughter is trying to find a job.

Melati is currently staying with her aunt at Kg. Mangka, Samarahan.

The latter is sharing whatever she has with the poor family. A thankful Melati is now struggling to sort things out, like her husband’s death certificate, registering her children for schools and finding a stable job.
