KUCHING: Hope Place recently visited a family that has a three-year-old boy who has haemophilia A in Kg Gita Petra Jaya.
The non-governmental organisation (NGO) said that Muhammad Ariq Sairil is easily bruised due to his blood related disease, and will get swellings all over his body.
“According to his mother Nurul Ayuni Morni, his white blood cells are very high and his red blood cells count is very low.
“However, physically, Ariq looks like any healthy, normal boy. His mother stated that Ariq is very active and loves to run and climb,” Hope Place said in its press release.
Hope Place added that a few times, Ariq’s parents have to bring him to the hospital because he fell down or somehow got hurt while being adventurous around his home.
“Ariq is very active and playful. He cannot sit still, to the point his father places small gates to block Ariq from falling at the staircase,” the NGO added.
Ariq’s father Sairil works as a grass cutter, earning below minimum pay, said Hope Place.
“Being the main breadwinner, Sairil usually earns about RM40, if there’s work.
“Ariq also has two other siblings, a five-year-old brother and a two- month-old brother. His mother when possible, will fry local crackers and sell them on pavements outside shoplots.
“It was at one of these times, that a concerned public saw the mother, carrying her two-month-old baby standing in front of a bank, selling prawn crackers,” Hope Place stated.
Hope Place said the family applied for social welfare aid last month and is hoping for a positive response.
“We are supporting this family with regular basic food aid continuously,” it said.
