KUCHING: Hope Place has been providing regular aid to a single mother who is facing kidney problems and taking care of three children.
According to a press release, the aid was extended to the mother after learning about her responsibilities of raising her children while undergoing dialysis three times a week.
The mother, Simah Aju, lost her husband to a stroke last year. Originally from Miri, the family relocated to Kuching after her husband’s passing.
The decision to move was driven by the availability of better dialysis treatment assistance in Kuching.
Despite her health condition and the demanding dialysis sessions, Simah continues to work in a coffee shop to earn income.
In Miri, Simah used to receive financial aid of RM 450 from the social welfare department.
However, since she moved to Kuching, the financial aid from Miri has been discontinued. She was informed that she needs to reapply for assistance in Kuching.
As she waits for approval, Simah is concerned about her current financial situation.
She shared that she has been unable to pay her rent of RM 380 for the past two months. Despite her efforts to save, her savings are nearly depleted.
