KUCHING: Infrastructure development will enable Sarawak to be a well-developed state, a fact that Tasik Biru assemblymen Datuk Henry Harry Jinep reiterated.

He said various types of infrastructural facilities are needed by the state (particularly in Bau district) and shall be developed under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

He spoke of this when asked what he hoped from the 12MP, a five-year (2021-2025) development roadmap, which Prime Minister Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will table in Parliament today.

“Particularly for Bau, I am looking forward to a sound budget for the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) in Serikin, including a good dual-carriageway from Serikin to Bau town.

“When Serikin is upgraded to an international gateway, we will have more movement of people between Sarawak and Kalimantan,” he said.

He predicted that many people and vehicles will cross the border for business, tourism and other purposes, all of which boost the state’s and the country’s economy.
