SIMANGGANG: Although she previously failed to win the Benak Tourism Queen title in the past competition, the beautiful young lady from Simunjan remains hopeful.

In fact, Intan Syafiqah Yunus continues her mission this year by rejoining the same competition in the 2024 edition, themed Royal Art of Borneo, organised in conjunction with the 21st Benak Festival.

This makes her the only participant to have entered the prestigious competition for the second time.

“My hopes are the same as last year, even though I failed. Insya-Allah, I will do my best this year.

“I want to make a name for myself and raise the profile of my hometown, Simunjan,” she said yesterday.

She acknowledged that the support of her mother has been her main encouragement to join the 2024 Benak Tourism Queen competition.

“My mother has always motivated me not to give up easily after what happened last year,” she said.

She will face strong competition from seven other finalists, all of whom are participating in the Benak Tourism Queen competition for the first time.

This year, the competition sees even more attractive prizes on offer.

Meanwhile, the runner-up will receive RM3,000 in cash and other prizes, while the third-place winner will take home RM2,000 and other prizes.

The organisers are also offering special awards such as Best Costume, Photogenic Queen, and Talented Queen.

Each winner of these special awards will receive RM1,000.

As an improvement to this year’s event, a new award has been introduced, namely the Popular Queen, with RM1,000 to be won.

The Popular Queen award is determined based on the most “likes” received through Facebook voting.
