MIRI: The Sarawak government should emulate Singapore by hosting events featuring international artistes, Kuala Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni has suggested.
“Sarawak has a lot of potential, thanks to its multicultural, multiracial, multireligious and multilingual make-up.
“This gives us an advantage. We are capable of hosting concerts not only to attract domestic tourists but also international ones.
“What the state government should do is to continue to open our borders.
“Nevertheless, I am sure that the state government has planned multiple tourism programmes to woo the tourists,” he said on Thursday (June 30).
Lukanisman also urged local artistes and the entertainment industry to think outside the box.
“They need to come up with unique performances so that it will be forever remembered by their audiences. They can also use social media to broadcast their upcoming shows.”
He also suggested that the relevant agencies give a special rate to locals attending the performances.
“They will be the ones who will always come back and support the events. So it is fitting that they get a special rate.”
