SIBU: A one-storey house caught fire during rush hour this afternoon but was quickly extinguished thanks to the prompt response of firemen.
An emergency call was received at 12.14pm regarding a house on fire located at Jalan Sibu-Sarikei, after the Paradom roundabout.
The State Fire and Rescue Operation Centre despatched firemen from Sibu Central station to incident location.
“It was noted that the one-storey house sustained about 40 per cent damage with its roof and ceiling destroyed in the blaze,” said the operation centre in a statement.
“The operation commander ordered his firemen to commence the extinguishing operation and they were able to control the flame by 12.53pm.
“After the flame has been extinguished, they conducted cooling on the scene and created ventilation,” it said.
The operation ended at 1.32pm and there were no injuries or casualties reported during the incident.
