BINTULU: An early morning fire that heavily damaged a two-storey house at Jalan Sibiew, Kampung Baru here yesterday left 22 people homeless.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, a distress call on the incident was received at 4.45am.
Following the call, Bintulu firefighters were despatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the 40×30 ft house, which was rented out to tenants, was heavily damaged in the fire while six motorcycles at the scene were 100 percent burnt.
All the tenants managed to get out safely.
The fire was fully extinguished at 5.30am and the operation ended at 7.10am.
