MIRI: A fire engulfed a single-story rental house in Kampung Padang Kerbau this morning, leaving nine residents homeless.
The house, a four-door permanent structure measuring 80 by 30 square feet, was completely destroyed.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operation Department reported receiving an emergency call at 10.17 am.
Firefighters from Lopeng and Miri Sentral were dispatched immediately and arrived at the scene shortly after.
Despite the rapid response, the blaze destroyed the entire building. Fortunately, no victims were reported in the incident.
All nine residents managed to evacuate safely.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
