House owner suffers loss of RM70,000 in burglary

MIRI:  Belongings including two mattresses were carted away when a house in Desa Pujut 2 in Permyjaya was burglarised on Tuesday.

Before fleeing, the burglars allegedly set fire to one of the rooms.

Fortunately, the fire was minor and alert neighbours managed to put it out.

A police report on the incident was lodged by the house owner, an offshore worker.

According to sources, the neighbours were alerted by smokes from the house.

Total loss was estimated at around RM70,000.

During the intrusion, the house owner was away, but he immediately rushed to the house after being notified on the incident at around 2am.

No arrest has been made at press time as police are still investigating.
