PUSA: A wooden house in Kampung Semarang here was partially destroyed yesterday (Mar 16), allegedly due to unsupervised cooking.
Fortunately, all four occupants, aged between nine and 35, managed to evacuate safely, with no injuries or casualties reported.
A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Saratok station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 3pm.
Upon arrival, they discovered the single-storey house already 70 percent destroyed.
Local residents had begun efforts to extinguish the flames using water from a nearby fire hydrant prior to the team’s arrival.
The cause of the fire was reportedly attributed to unattended cooking.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended their inspections and returned to their station.
Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the extent of the losses
