KUCHING: Police are prepared to conduct house-to-house inspections during the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said this action would be done as soon as directives are received from Bukit Aman.

“If the order is given by Bukit Aman, we will implement it (in the state),” he said today, adding that no such directives had been given yet.

Aidi said police had also taken a similar action during last year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

On Wednesday, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Jaafar said police were making preparations to conduct house-to-house checks should there be a number of cars parked outside (a premises).

“We will ask them whether or not they have an interstate travel letter,” he said, adding that police needed to ensure the public follow strictly Covid-19 standard operating procedure guidelines.
