SIBU: Police arrested a man suspected of housebreaking in the Rantau Panjang residential area on Sunday (Nov 10).
Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the man was detained around 4.30 pm by members of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) and Police Patrol Car Unit (MPV).
“The suspect allegedly broke into a house in the area before attempting to flee after residents noticed him.
“He reportedly climbed into a neighbouring home, hiding in an upstairs bathroom,” he said in a statement via IPD Sibu Facebook account yesterday (Nov 11).
Zulkipli added that the police managed to locate his hiding spot before arresting him.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.
