SIBURAN: Residents at Taman Sentah, a housing estate here, experienced flash floods in the wee morning of Tuesday (Aug 18).
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO) in a statement, a distress call was received around 1.16am pertaining to the floods.
A Bomba patrol team from Siburan fire and rescue station was then deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team found that piles of wood and bamboo debris were blocking the drains in the residential area.
“Heavy rains since Monday evening have also caused areas near and around Siburan town to experience flash floods as the drainage system cannot accommodate the overflow of rainwater,” the statement said.
The floodwater in Taman Sentah was about half a foot high.
Firefighters only monitored the situation and advised members of the public to evacuate in case of more severe flooding.
