KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF)’s Strategic Initiatives Scheme was relaunched today with the enhancement of five training schemes aimed at empowering the quality of workers.
The five schemes are Graduates Enhancement Programme for Employability (Generate 2.0), National Dual Training Scheme (SLDN)-Apprenticeship, Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL), SME Graduates Scheme and Industry Certification (Indcert).
HRDF’s chief executive officer Elanjelian Venugopal said the scheme was aimed at helping unemployed graduates, secondary school leavers, owners and chief executive officers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and employees.
“The scheme is specially designed through a comprehensive study involving negotiations with employers registered with HRDF, employers’ associations, institutions of higher learning and relevant stakeholders,” he said at the launch of the HRDF Strategic Initiatives Scheme here yesterday.
The scheme was launched by Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mahfuz Omar.
Human Resources Minister M Kula Segaran earlier announced the suspension of the initiative on Nov 15, last year for the review and improvement process.
Elanjelian said the Generate 2.0 Scheme will help graduates who are still unemployed for three months and above after finishing their diploma or degree by offering training and job placement after the training, while the SLDN scheme helps secondary school leavers and young school dropouts undergo Technical and Vocational Training Programme (TVET).
“RPEL targets experienced workers familiar with the working environment, by giving recognition and technical certifications to them without going through the traditional training process while the SME Graduates Scheme enhances leadership and management skills,” he said.
He said the Indcert scheme focused on intensive and high-tech knowledge in producing a skilled and competitive workforce for the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0. –Bernama
