KOTA SAMARAHAN: The HSL Samarahan Marathon 2024, scheduled for May 11 and 12, is set to attract an estimated 3,000 runners, offering exclusive accommodation deals for participants in partnership with Citadines Uplands Kuching and Rume Hotel.
Hock Seng Lee (HSL) Reality Sdn Bhd director Yu Ji revealed that both hotels are providing enticing packages for participants in various marathon categories, ranging from 3km to 42km.
“After the remarkable success of the HSL Fitness Weekend in 2021, boasting over 1,000 participants from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Brunei and Penang, we are aiming for an even larger turnout this time,” he said during a press conference for the marathon at HSL Tower on Thursday (Jan 25).
Featuring a fast and flat route, the marathon offers professional runners an opportunity to set new personal records while also catering to amateurs with its beginner-friendly terrain.
HSL is further supporting the event by providing affordable entry prices, with super early bird fees at just RM90 for the full 42km, RM80 for the 21km, and RM70 for the 10km. Participants also have the chance to compete for substantial prizes totalling RM58,400.
Citadines operations manager Alexander Tay shared that Citadines is not only offering discounted rates for Studio Premier Rooms and single-bedroom apartments with breakfast included but also provides complimentary transportation from the marathon’s starting point at La Promenade Mall.
“The Studio Premier package, inclusive of room, breakfast, and complimentary transfer to La Promenade, is available at RM215 for single occupancy and RM250 for twin occupancy. Alternatively, the one-bedroom option is priced at RM245 for a single stay and RM280 for twin occupancy.”
For Rume Hotel, general manager Izora Lim disclosed that the hotel is extending discounts for the 44 available rooms, including Executive King Rooms, starting at RM168.
Bookings for the special packages will open on Feb 15 through www.discoverasr.com (Citadines) and rumehotel.com.my (Rume Hotel), using promotion codes provided during marathon registration.
Meanwhile, participants for the Mother’s Day-themed marathon can register on the website events.lapromenademall.com at an early bird registration fee of RM50.
All marathon events, spanning 3km, 6km, 10km, 21km, and 42km, will offer a total cash prize of RM58,400. Participants are entitled to receive a runner’s T-shirt, a gold medal, and a finisher’s T-shirt.
The event was attended by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman Datuk Peter Minos, Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association, Kuching chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok, Citadines sales manager Elvina, Rume Hotel F&B manager Lim Hao Boon, and City Jogger Club committee members Lee Kong Shin, Song Khoon Sin and Wendel Chan Book Teck.
