KUCHING: Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii is one of the recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (P.G.B.K) award, presented in conjunction with the 78th birthday of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability is among three individuals set to receive the P.G.B.K award, entitling them to ‘Datuk’.
At 55, Huang, who served as the Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, embarked on his political journey in 1973 with the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).
He held the positions of Vice President and Division Chief of SUPP Sarikei.
In the 2016 State Election, he secured the Repok state seat, followed by the Sarikei parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election.
Before entering politics, he had established himself as a prominent businessman in Sarikei.
Since assuming the roles of Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, he has consistently offered extensive support to the residents of both constituencies, with a particular focus on education.
Huang frequently emphasizes the significance of education, especially in trying times, drawing from his experiences as an elected representative. Over the years, he has concentrated on enhancing school facilities and supplying essential items to underprivileged students.
His primary objective is to create a conducive learning environment for children, nurturing a future generation capable of propelling the nation forward.
The award will be bestowed upon him at the state honours investiture ceremony, scheduled at Astana Negeri Sarawak on Saturday morning, October 12.
