KUCHING: Hundreds of people including friends, relatives, siblings, and other family members attended the funeral service of the late Ding Seling at Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Kuching today.

The service was handled by Pastor Wilfred Jaboh.

The late Ding, a former senator, is the ex-chairman of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Telang Usan division and a former member of the Board of Trustees of Dayak Cultural Foundation, passed away last Sunday (July 9) at 75 years old, leaving behind his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.

His son, Duan Kelvin Seling, described him as an honest man who taught him and his siblings to always live their life without any single regret.

“I thank him, for all his advice and the life lesson he had taught us, and most importantly, for loving us.

“We all love him very much and we miss him. This is not a goodbye, but more like a see you later,” he said this in his eulogy.

Ding’s daughter Dau Ming Seling said her dad loved kung fu movies.

“Whenever he hung out with us or his grandchildren, he always brought them to watch kung fu shows, and he would playfully fight with us because that was always his favourite,” she said in her eulogy.

“Just as much as anyone, Ding always loves silly jokes, to the point he would sit down with his grandchildren and tell them the silly jokes.

“Sometimes my mum would come to him and scold him for talking nonsense.

“But I believe he always enjoyed talking and engaging with people regardless of their age, race, gender and background,” she added.

Dau said her late father taught them life is a process and to always make a decision, own it and to stick by it through and through.

“Most importantly, we have our parents, but even if they are not around, there is always faith that would guide us, through the good and the bad,” she stated.

“I will forever miss him,” he said.
