i-CATS offers Bachelor’s degree in e-Commerce

KUCHING: The International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) here is offering a programme which can be a gateway to exciting careers in the digital economy.

Registration of new students is ongoing at i-CATS for the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in E-commerce programme.

“Registration for the current June/July intake will be ongoing until July 12,” said chief executive officer (CEO) of i-CATS Kuching Mohamad Isham Fauzi, adding that the next intake would be during the September/October session.

He stated that the three-year programme is a collaboration with Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IKUL), and it can be completed entirely at the i-CATS West Campus located at Jalan Stampin Timur here.

“This will save considerable costs, especially travel and living expenses,” said Mohamad.

He elaborated on the benefits of the programme, such as preparing students for a wide range of leadership and managerial positions in an e-commerce environment. 

“Indeed, with the increasing importance of Industry 4.0 and the digital economy, graduates of this Bachelor’s degree programme will be trained to thrive in an ever-changing and vibrant global economy,” added Mohamad.

The programme does not only focus on theoretical concepts, but also helps students acquire practical skills in various aspects of business including information technology. 

According to Mohamad, a key aim of the programme is to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit of the students.

Mohamad said i-CATS would provide assistance to students in their application(s) for study loans from the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) and also Sarawak Foundation.

“Those who are eligible to enter this Bachelor’s degree programme must have a minimum of Grade C, or GP 2.00, in any two subjects in STPM or its equivalent.

“They must also have passed Mathematics and English at SPM or UEC level with Grade B in five subjects including the aforementioned subjects, or have completed an accredited Diploma or Foundation programme with a minimum CGPA of 2.00,” explained Mohamad.
