KUCHING: i-CATS University College (i-CATS UC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Foshan Feichi Motor Technology Co Ltd.
According to a statement by i-CATS UC, it aimed at collaborating in training and education in hydrogen and related technologies, consultations to automotive industries in Sarawak, research innovation and cultural exchange between the two institutions.
“The MoU was signed by Jiang Yong, general manager of Foshan Feichi Motor Technology Co Ltd, and Professor Datuk Dr Shazali Abu Mansor, Acting Vice Chancellor of i-CATS UC.
“The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Xing Weiping, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Hallman Sabri, executive director of Sarawak Skills and PPKS Ilmu Sdn Bhd, Mohd Melintang Abdullah, Registrar, i-CATS UC Management, academics and delegates from the Foshan Feichi Motor Technology Co Ltd,” the statement read.
In the statement, it revealed that the collaboration between i-CATS UC dates back to early this year.
“From April 22 until May 6, 2024, i-CATS UC Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahren Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce and his fellow academics from i-CATS UC and also Sarawak Skills Management visited Foshan Polytechnic in Foshan, China.
“Feichi Technology and Foshan Polytechnic organized the training, providing participants with first-hand experience and a deeper understanding of the design and development process of hydrogen-powered vehicle components,” the statement said.
In addition, the delegates also included visits to illustrious institutions and businesses.
The University College expressed excitement about this Memorandum of Understanding’s (MoU) potential benefits and how it will strengthen the institutions.
“i-CATS UC firmly believes that by working together, we can promote a cooperative and mutually beneficial environment in the fields of academia and research,” i-CATS UC said.
