SIBU: Two teams of Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) students from i-CATS UC have achieved outstanding success at the Smart Innovation Competition, held at Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, UTS, here.
The competition, themed “Towards Sustainable Development Goals,” witnessed remarkable innovations addressing contemporary challenges.
The competition received support from the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad, Sibu Digital Innovation Hub and the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Eryndor Corporations, led by Aina Mardia, Hael Rabbani, and Kenneth Fong under the guidance of Nurlaila Rosli, secured the Silver award.
They presented a user-friendly mobile app for coordinating food waste collection, Anaerobic Digestion Technology for transforming food waste into energy, and reusing residual materials for valuable resources, aligning with the theme of ‘Responsible Consump
The Bronze award went to Jacky Jong Jun Ming and Sam Liu Wen Kai, supervised by Mohamad Faizal Mahsen, for their project, SafeHarbor Shield.
This IoT system employs AI-powered smart cameras and advanced speech recognition to detect bullying behaviour among students, contributing to ‘Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions’ (SDG 16) through round-the-clock surveillance.
The Faculty of Computing and Software Engineering congratulates the winning teams and expresses gratitude to all contributors and supporters.
This success serves as a beacon, motivating i-CATS UC to continue pioneering innovation for sustainability.
