KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan has come out in defence of his president, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing, on the Bintulu Port issue.
He said all that Masing did was a surface quest, an initial search, enquiring about a federal property, the Bintulu Port, which is sited on Sarawak soil.
“Why was See Chee How (DAP Batu Lintang) offended and kneejerk-scared on the DCM’s statement pursuing such rights?
Responding to See’s statement which slammed the statement as “reckless”, Lawan said following a minor cabinet reshuffle, Masing was tasked with another portfolio, the port, which now falls under his jurisdiction.
“Who else actually is in the best position if not the minister himself to delve into this matter? Failing to do so is a failure to serve Sarawak good. Is that what See probably propagates in the event Dr James does not enquire now.”
Lawan said See would certainly not bring this to the surface because doing so would not “serve his master in Malaya best, where his heart is. (To him) Sarawak’s secondary”.
