KOTA SAMARAHAN: State Education Department director Dr Azhar Ahmad is pleased to note that the education system in Sarawak has recognised the importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the teaching and learning process.

In his speech at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) yesterday, Azhar said ICT had the potential to strengthen the teaching and learning process in schools and develop critical thinking skills in students.

“The principals, headmasters and teachers will also have access to teaching materials and communications with international teaching communities for improvements in the quality of educational services,” he added.

Azhar also said the integration of ICT in schools would develop the students’ interest and abilities in a positive way.

He thanked Universiti Malaysia Sarawak for performing its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in collaboration with Samarahan and Kuching District Education Offices by providing ICT amenities to local schools.
