KUCHING: iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd (iCube) and UCSI University Sarawak Campus (UCSI) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to train more Sarawakian youths as entrepreneurs.
The signing ceremony was held at The Space by iCube at iCom Square here yesterday. It was witnessed by Assistant Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
Representing the signatories were iCube founder and chairman Datuk Patrick Liew and USCI University Sarawak campus chief operating officer (COO) Mukvinder Kaur Sandhu.
The partnership will extend to workshops, training, seminars, talks and events related to entrepreneurship grooming, e-commerce development, business coaching, leadership cultivation and more. With this, young aspiring entrepreneurs will be able to gain expanded access to relevant information and potential opportunities.
iCube will provide the incubation platform for the programmes.
“The sharing of expertise, knowledge and experiences will be able to produce greater results compared to a single entity labouring on its own,” said Liew.
He hoped that with this collaboration between iCube and UCSI, students would be able to generate entrepreneurial skills for future undertakings.
Sandhu said the MoU would pave the way for UCSI students to gain hands-on, real-world entrepreneurial experience.
“We need to revolutionise our teaching to suit today’s learners and fast-changing environment,” she added.
In his speech, Len emphasised the importance of cultivating symbiotic relationships between the state government, the private sector as well as learning institutions.
“We must strategise and tap into each other’s strengths in order to expand the interest of the youths while encouraging them to be more innovative,” he stressed.
He called for more such collaborative efforts in developing young talents especially in entrepreneurship and digital economy.
