KUCHING: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Matu in Daro recently received a contribution of RM20,000 from Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi.
The MP is a former student of SMK Matu and a member of Grup 1972-77.
His contribution was handed over to school principal Nguang Seng by representatives of Grup 1972-77 SMK Matu led by Sulaiman Bohari
Nguang said the contribution had enabled the school to buy five LCD projectors worth RM8,000.
“Part of the remaining contribution was used to buy reference books for SPM students,” he said.
Ahmad, patron of Grup 1972-77, was unable to grace the event as he was away in Kuala Lumpur.
The president of SMK Matu Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), Norhayati Abang Daud, thanked Ahmad for his generous contribution.
“We hope that the alumni will continue to help us and the school in future, either in the form of ideas or contributions, for the sake of the children of SMK Matu.” she said.
