IGAN: Igan parliamentary seat will witness a straight fight in the 15th general election (GE15).

Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Ahmad Johnie Zawawi will be defending the seat and is up against Amanah’s candidate Andri Zulkarnaen Hamden.

The official announcement of the candidates was made by Election Commission (EC) Returning Officer Bujang Rahman Seli at Daro Community Hall, today.

Ahmad Johnnie was the first to arrive at the nomination centre at 8.30am and was accompanied by Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad and Jemoreng assemblyman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya.

He submitted his nomination paper at 9.07am and was proposed by Hamden Taha and seconded by Muhammad Al-Faizy.

Shortly after, Andri also submitted his nomination paper and accompanied by his proposer, Karapawi Suhaili and seconder, Sapian Bohari.

In the previous general election, Andri contested under Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket and lost to Ahmad Johnie in a straight fight by a majority of 8,495 votes.
