KUCHING: The Islamic Information Centre (IIC) hosted the Hari Bersama Rakan event on Friday (May 26), attracting 500 participants from various non-governmental organisations (NGOs), faith-based organisations, and agencies.
The event aimed to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and plan future programmes among the participating organisations.
IIC organised the event, extending invitations to NGOs and religious associations such as the Association of Churches in Sarawak, Malaysian Buddhist Association & Staff, and Kuil Sri Mahamariamman Association.
The gathering provided an opportunity for networking and establishing connections for future collaborations.
Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) assistant secretary Catherine Kechendai expressed appreciation for the event’s annual occurrence, emphasising the importance of building relationships and fostering unity among the diverse organizations and religious associations in Sarawak.
“The presence of various organisations, religious groups, and agencies makes this event truly welcoming. Holding it at the IIC showcases the unity of Sarawakians.”
Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) staff Susan Lantong commended the event’s role in strengthening interfaith relationships and unity in Sarawak.
“I really like how this event is organised as they welcome all of us from different organisations and agencies.”
She expressed her support for future events of this kind, suggesting that other agencies and organisations should also consider organising similar gatherings.
The program was attended by Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datuk Misnu Taha, along with other distinguished guests.
