SIBU: The National Registration Department (NRD) here has named Ilng Shii Ngie as the state’s first Ahli Tribunal Perkahwinan (Marriage Tribunal Member) for the Sibu region.
The establishment of the Marriage Tribunal and the appointment of lIng as its first member for the NRD Sibu branch are expected to provide greater transparency, consistency, and accessibility in the handling of marriage-related cases within Sibu region and its surrounding areas IIng, who serves as the secretary of the Sibu Yin Clan Association, is a highly respected figure in the local community.
The announcement of his appointment was made on Monday (May 27) by the NRD Sibu branch officer in-charge, Norazizan Hamzah, who praised IIng’s community leadership and legal expertise.
“We are delighted to have IIng, a respected community leader and the secretary of the Sibu Yin Clan Association, join our team as the inaugural Marriage Tribunal Member for the NRD Sibu branch.
“His extensive experience in marriage and family law, coupled with his deep understanding of the community’s needs, make him the perfect choice for this important role,” said Norazizan.
In his new position, Norazizan stated that IIng will be responsible for presiding over marriage-related tribunals, hearing cases, and providing advisory opinions to the NRD on matters pertaining to marriage registration and annulment.
This appointment, he added, is a significant step forward in strengthening the department’s capacity to handle marriage-related issues in the Sibu region.
