KUCHING: Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB) strongly condemned any and all forms of illegal activities and practices that might have been undertaken within or outside the port limits.

“We maintain that our own port operations are at all times in compliance with and in accordance to the applicable laws and regulations made by the authorities.

“Therefore, we view any breach of the law within the port premises as a serious matter and will cooperate with all relevant authorities in their investigation relating to any and all incidents,” it said in a statement issued on Monday (June 22).

The statement was issued in reference to news articles published by several media outlets on June 18 relating to the seizure of an illicit cargo by the Sarawak Customs Department at Bintulu Port.

BPSB said as operator of the port, it regretted its involvement in the matter and is working closely with the authorities.

It also advised and reminded all port users to comply with all applicable laws and regulations at all times.
