BAU: Police nabbed a 64-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in an illegal lottery activity today.

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the arrest was made by a CID team in an ‘Ops Dadu’ raid behind a coffee shop at Jalan Temenggung Salau here at 10.45am.

“The team spotted and spied on the person for about 20 minutes before inspecting the man, who is believed to be working as an illegal lottery agent.

“Inspections found that the coffee shop was used to conduct unlicensed public lottery activities.

“A phone, cash and paper with suspected lottery numbers, were seized from the man,” he told.

The detained man along with the seized items, were later brought to the police for further actions.

Poge noted that the man who does not have any past record, will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

The Section provides for a fine of between RM20,000 and RM200,000, and up to five years in jail.
