MIRI: A joint operation by the Miri Immigration Enforcement Unit (UPI) on Wednesday resulted in the arrest of 46 foreign nationals in Niah and Bekenu.
A team of immigration officers inspected 13 locations, checking 86 individuals.
The largest number of arrests, 14, was made at Tamu Simpang Bekenu.
Seven were detained at Pasar Batu Niah, and six at Simpang Ngu-Niah.
The detainees, comprising 35 men and 11 women, were arrested for various immigration offenses, including lack of valid travel documents, overstaying, and absence of a valid pass.
Cases are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
