KOTA KINABALU: The implementation of government policies decided earlier by the federal government for the state will not be affected by political uncertainties, said Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Samsuni Mohd Nor.

He said political developments at the federal level would not jeopardise the objective of federal departments and statutory bodies to implement policies aimed at helping the people.

“As civil servants, we have always been professional in our objective and role. We are neutral, serving the government of the day.

“Our objective is the (well-being of) people; they will not be neglected no matter what happens at the top (federal level) because we are policy implementers,” he told reporters after a liaison meeting with heads of federal departments and statutory bodies here today.

He reminded federal civil servants in Sabah to honour their pledge to discharge their duties professionally and to steer clear of political activities.

Asked on today’s meeting, Samsuni said it was held three times a year for heads of federal departments and statutory bodies to interact to ensure more effective delivery of services and implementation of policies.

“We discuss ways to ensure the delivery of services meets the needs and expectations of the people of Sabah,” he added. – Bernama
