KUCHING: The imported Covid-19 cases reported in Bintulu returned from high-risk areas in Selangor, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Sunday (Jan 3).

“Cases 1,133 and 1,134 entered Sarawak via Bintulu Airport on Jan 1. Both cases, who are close family members, had travelled to Bintulu from Selangor via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for work purposes.

“The cases are in charge of managing the maintenance of equipment tools in a factory in Bintulu.”

SDMC added that the cases tested positive the following day after being screened upon their arrival at the airport.

“They were placed into quarantine centres to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

“The cases are asymptomatic and have been categorised as Import B cases. Both have been referred and admitted to Bintulu Hospital.”

Further investigations and close contact tracing are being carried out.
