MIRI: Youth have been urged to steer clear of drugs in light of the grave consequences that come with drug abuse.
Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau made the call during the “Quick Drugs: A Journey of Transformation” event held at Curtin University here today.
“Every illegal drug substance you put into your body is a step closer to death and hell,” he said, adding, “there is no good story about drugs.”
He thus advised students, particularly those still in university, college, or school, to resist the temptation of trying drugs.
“You may have problems, but this is something that we can avoid. Don’t ever try drugs,” he warned, stressing the importance of maintaining a drug-free life for a promising future.
Referring to the Sarawak government’s Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, Ngau noted that the state is committed to achieving high income and development through education and strategic planning.
“We are now entering a new phase in our lives,” he remarked.
He urged students facing difficulties to seek help from their lecturers or parents rather than resorting to drugs.
“If you have problems, talk to your lecturers or your parents. Don’t take drugs,” he advised, reminding them that drug use is not a solution but a path to further complications.
Ngau stressed the importance of collective action in combating the nation’s drug problem, calling it the number one enemy.
“Let us together fight drugs,” he urged, rallying the community to work together to eradicate drug abuse.
