DARO: Village products such as ‘sago’ have the potential to be marketed at a higher level.

Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub said the production of sago could be increased, and had the potential to be marketed overseas.

“In addition, village producst in Daro such as lokan, ‘ikan terubuk’ (toli shad fish), and other village products also have enough potential to be marketed at a higher level.

“I hope the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) will discuss this, so that we can improve more of these agricultural products and can be marketed further to improve our farmers’ income. The discussion will be held with Fama,” he said.

Salahuddin said this during a press conference held on Monday during his visit to Daro which was held from Feb 17 to 19.

According to him, village products such as yam, fresh fish and others will be bought by the public.

Thus, Salahuddin stressed that the marketing tactics need to be improved and the appearance of the products needs to be aggressively enhanced to attract customers.
