KUCHING: Borneo is set to host its first-ever full orchestra anime live concert, titled “An Anime Symphony”, slated for Dec 9 at the Lodge National Secondary School Hall.

Organised by The Band Lab, the concert promises to showcase iconic anime series soundtracks from Violet Evergarden, Demon Slayer, Detective Conan, Pokemon, Digimon, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and the game soundtrack of Genshin Impact.

Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed his excitement during a press conference, stating that his ministry is fully prepared to support initiatives that propel the music and performing arts industry forward.

He said events like these provide a platform to highlight the talents of Sarawak youth, foster collaboration among artists from diverse backgrounds, and attract a diverse audience, including anime and orchestra fans, thus raising awareness of the music industry in Sarawak.

“We would love to see performing arts of any form thrive. That is why I encourage event organisers to approach us for support. If it suits the society, we will support as much as possible,” he said on Thursday (Nov 30).
